Choosing the wrong size ecommerce box is one of the most expensive packaging mistakes Pakistani online sellers make. A box too large wastes material, increases dimensional courier weight (meaning higher delivery costs per order), and lets products move and get damaged during transit. Why Box Size Matters More Than You Think
1. Courier Cost — Dimensional Weight
Pakistani couriers (TCS, Leopards, PostEx, Swyft) charge on actual weight OR dimensional weight — whichever is higher. Dimensional weight = (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 5000. A box that is 5cm too large in each dimension can add Rs.50–200 to your per-order courier cost. Multiply that by 500 orders per month = Rs.25,000–100,000 in unnecessary extra courier costs every month.
2. Product Protection
Products need just 1–2cm of space around them inside the box. More space than that allows movement during courier handling, increasing damage risk. The right-sized box + tissue or butter paper filling = zero movement = zero damage.
